World Hunger and Poverty Songs – “Why” A Song For Change

Ending World Hunger Is Something Noble to Strive ForThe following is a world hunger post with my song in the field of poverty songs and world hunger issues that I created as part of my Songs for Oprah project, which aimed to make music with a positive message, create content addressing issues of importance and gain the support of Oprah.

Though the project never reached Oprah, and ended after 23 weeks, the songs remain…Below is the original posting from the twelfth song in the series and one that still sits very near to my heart and is a fan favorite.

I deeply appreciate all the views and support and look forward to sharing more of my music with you when you join my fan list.  Watch the video below and do leave a comment with your thoughts!

My World Hunger and Poverty Song “Why”

I have just finished my week 12 song in my Songs For Oprah project, which is a song for awareness and advocacy to the ending of world hunger and poverty. These two issues are of vital importance and are well within the realm of accomplishing.

It is staggering to think just how many people in the world go hungry and live in conditions that would not even be fit for an animal. I’m not the sort who is outraged by this or feels that I have to go on a warpath…rather I would hope to spread awareness about the issue in a peaceful and gentle manner as I myself learn more about the issues at hand and what needs to be done in order to successfully put an end to these problems. I know there are many great organizations out there who work towards ending world hunger. The two that I am familiar with are One.org and WHY. I would encourage anyone who reads this to donate, be it through time, money or just spreading the word to others.

I have written a song that was inspired by my fundraising efforts for WHY and also a very powerful movie “Slumdog Millionaire”, which chronicles the life of two brothers who grow up in the slums of India. I highly recommend it.

If you do contribute to the WHY foundation and want to help support me and my music you can forward your confirmation email to me at “music [at] andrewhand [dot] com” and that will help in my fundraising effort to get a free PR package from top NYC publicist Ariel Hyatt. I have until Dec. 31st for this fundraiser and would appreciate any help.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

All the Best,

Andrew Hand
